For the SNL50 Anniversary Special partnership with L'Oréal, I had the amazing opportunity to try and crack a funny concept for CeraVe's new anti-dandruff shampoo, as a key part of the Head of CeraVe Campaign.

I dug back into my metal roots, working at Guitar World Magazine where the blight of dandruff is a plague that haunts all of us metal loving kids that don all black. Within a day, I had a full blown concept and script written and presented back to SNL — a metal band with dandruff, called Naumôre Dandruf [get it?], that writes songs about dandruff, but can't believe they actually have dandruff.

The concept was a hit, and with the help of the bandmates Sarah Sherman aka Crema, Boen Yang aka Theorello, and actual drummer / dermatologist, Dr. Dustin Portela, the Naumôre Dandruf made it rain...flakes.

This couldn't have been possible without Adam Kornblum, Kelly Buchanan Spillers, Lorne Michaels, SNL writers William Stephen and Auguste White, director Tim Wilkime, the SNL Film unit and supporting staff, Tony Barber of The Buzzcocks, NBC, and the CeraVe Team. Just knowing that potato chips were used to make the dandruff show up on film, and pushing for classic Jackon Guitars to be the axe of choice on-set, made it more metal than the zinc in the shampoo.
