With The US Open Sessions, Ogilvy & Mather and IBM partnered up with TOOL of North America to embark on a crazy, crazy idea: turn all the tennis data from every televised game at the US Open tournament into music, in real-time... as in LIVE when a match is playing! With a little help from this guy, named James Murphy from LCD Soundsystem fame, we made it happen! AND James Murphy is releasing a remix album. A REAL ALBUM made from this project!
This responsive web experience comes in all device shapes and sizes, with up-to-the-second, faster-than-TV accuracy! To push this further, an on-site experience at the US Open streamed the live-generated music from the matches. Also, every single point is sharable with a unique animation, as it influenced the game, as well as the music. Hats off to our Ogilvy & IBM and creative / ux / production / account teams for working amazingly with TOOL to both create beautiful videos, print, album art, you name it! Collaboratively making this one of the most beautiful experiences in Sports + Music + Data history.
We sonically created 186 unique match tracks, over 400+ hours of music, generated in real time on the IBM Cloud.
